Interfaith National Day of Prayer and Holocaust Remembrance Day

Interfaith When people pray, does God listen?  I think so!  After all, God is creator and loves all of Creation.  Which means when people talk to God I believe God listens.  Yesterday for the second year in a row, the Interfaith Council of Imperial Valley organized a National Day of Prayer and Holocuast Remembrance Day for people of all faiths.  Faiths represented last night were, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, and Christians.   It truly was a remarkable evening of experiencing the Divine.  Something powerful happens when people gather and pray.  The Imperial Valley Press wrote about the service you can read the entire article HERE

We at the Interfaith Council are excited to experience prayer and peace together with people of all faiths.

Tell Us About Judasim: Picture

Img_0585_2The presentation, "Tell Me About Judaism" was a great success.  Judge Jack Weil began the evening by showing a video presentation (made by himself and the community of Temple Beth-el of El Centro).  The evenings presentation was setup in to, two different sections.  The first half of the presentation, focused on the traditional Jewish symbols and objects like the Yamika, the Menorah, the Star of David, the Huppah, the Dreidle,  Ketubah,  the Shofar, the Prayershawl, tefillin (phylacteries)  and many other objects that are integral aspects of the Jewish religion and culture.  These objects were held up for the audience to see by Judge Jack Weil and his son as children from the community of Beth Jacob read about the objects.

The Second half of the Presentation,Judith Klein-Pritchard addressed The Life Cycle of the Jewish Culture.  Focusing on the coming of age for both males and females,  Confirmation, Marriage and death and mourning.  The even was filled with great insight and was profoundly informative.  Enjoy the rest of the pictures.
